Dave Gibbs, manager with Town and Country Markets Ltd, the company responsible for the day-to-day operation of the market said: “We would like to thank everyone that supported our fundraising efforts during the run up to Christmas. It was the first time in our 40-year history that we’ve had a grotto and to raise so much money for such a worthy cause is fantastic.”
In addition to the money raised by the Grotto, Town and Country Markets Ltd is also donating £250 worth of shopping vouchers to the charity for use as prizes in forthcoming fundraising events.
Jacqui Shepherd, Keech Hospice Care’s Director of Fundraising, added: “It’s so wonderful that the Luton Market supported us with their first Santa’s Grotto and we’d like to join them in thanking all the families who took part in raising the £2,000 and thanks to all the market team who chose Keech Hospice Care as their charity. We really appreciate it.”
Located within The Mall, the indoor market represents the town’s diverse and vibrant population – with stalls offering everything from food to fashion – including a creative selection of internationally-themed, freshly-cooked meals and specialist stalls – including one of the County’s leading fishmongers.
The market, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary later this month, is open Monday to Saturday.
